I am pointing my domain name to Brandpa. Why was it suspended?
+-

Sometimes, DNS resolution problems (see explained below) can occur due to network issues or problems with the DNS infrastructure. This can lead to intermittent or inconsistent resolution of your domain, giving the impression that the nameservers are not pointing to the right place. These issues are usually temporary and can resolve themselves over time.

If your domain name is seen as if it is not pointing to Brandpa, you’ll receive an email from Brandpa that is a bit like this:

Domain name removed sue to not pointing to Brandpa

Your domain name will stay in this “suspended” state for 72 hrs (during which Brandpa checks 2 more times if the domain name is pointing to us). If it is, it will be re-listed for sale. If it is not, it will be removed from our website.

If the domain name was removed from Brandpa, even though you know it’s still pointing to Brandpa’s nameservers, you can try and re-list it yourself. Read more how here: My domain name has been removed from Brandpa. Can I re-list it for sale?

DNS resolution – refers to the process of translating human-readable domain names, such as “example.com,” into IP addresses that computers can understand and use to communicate over the internet. When you enter a domain name into a web browser or any other network application, the application needs to obtain the corresponding IP address to establish a connection with the appropriate server.

My domain name has been removed from Brandpa. Can I re-list it for sale?

If your domain name was removed from Brandpa, either by yourself or because it was no longer pointing to Brandpa, you can re-list it for sale yourself. Here’s how.

  1. Make sure you’re logged in to your Brandpa account.
  2. Click on Domains > Removed to see all the domain names that were removed.
  3. To list the domain name that was removed, click on the domain name you want re-listing.
  4. You’ll see this page. Click on the button “Re-list [domain].com”.

I'm not in the United Kingdom. How can I add my payout details?
+-

Domain name purchased on an instalment plan

We ask our sellers to add their British (GBP) payout information to Brandpa after they sell their domain name on an instalment plan. We advise our sellers to create an account with Wise (read how here: https://sellers.brandpa.com/how-to-set-up-a-gbp-account-with-wise-com/), and provide us with their British account number and sort code so that we can pay out using those details.

What is a sort code and where can I find it?

A sort code is a bank code used to route money transfers between financial institutions in the United Kingdom. It uses six digits, often separated by hyphens and so it could look like this: 00-11-22. You should be able to find the sort code within your Wise account after you add a new currency (British – GBP) to your Wise account.

For Brandpa to be able to make a payout to you, we’ll also need an account number. After you create a GBO (British) account, together with a sort code, you will also be given an account number. It’s usually wither a 6- or an 8-digit number.

Domain name purchased outright

If a domain name is purchased out right (not on an instalment plan), our seller will receive a link from a company called Mercury (https://mercury.com/) requesting your bank account details.

Can I submit a domain name with a 60-day transfer lock?
+-

We strongly advise not to submit domain names with a 60-day transfer lock applied, but you can do this if you wish.

If you submit and list a domain name which has a 60-day transfer lock applied, and that domain name is purchased a few days later by a buyer, you are risking losing this sale. Why? Often the buyer wants their newly purchase domain name transferred to their preferred registrar, which often is a different registrar to the one you have it hosted with.

Can I submit an unregistered domain name?
+-

When a domain name is submitted to Brandpa, you also need to pay a listing fee. You can submit an unregistered domain name, however, if you learn that you can no longer purchase that domain name from a registrar you saw a domain name with originally, we will not be able to refund you the listing fee.

That is why we strongly advise you don’t submit domain names that are not registered.

How long does it usually take to design a logo?
+-

The design process typically takes about a day. Depending on demand however, you may have to wait longer for a designer to be available, especially during holidays or weekends.

During the Coronavirus crisis, we have both fewer designers who are able to work, and unusually high demand for logos. As a result, there was a waiting period of about 9 days on March 27th 2020.

We now display the latest amount of time needed before you purchase a domain name. You can also view an estimate for each of your domains under DomainsSet up.

Does Brandpa refund listing fees?
+-

Brandpa does not refund any listing fees once a logo design for a domain name has started.

This is because once a logo design has begun we have committed a designer to creating a logo, and paying them for that logo.

Can I apply to have my domain names listed as featured?
+-

At the moment, we do not accept requests to make domain names featured. Brandpa acts as a curator of the domain names and chooses which domain names will be listed in the “Featured” section or not.

Read more on what are featured domain names here.

When are domains placed in the queue for logo design?
+-

Brandpa has a queue of logos, which our sellers work through.

Domains are placed in the queue after they are tagged. Because of this, we recommend you tag your domain as soon as you have paid for it.

A domain name is not placed in the queue immediately after payment, as the designer needs the domain to be tagged before they know what to do with it.
